How to Get to the Valley of Grossarl

Location
The community of Grossarl is located in the middle of the valley of Grossarl (which is approx. 30 kilometres long) in the Austrian province of Salzburg. It is situated some 70 kilometres south of the cultural and festival city Salzburg. The valley of Grossarl is located on a plateau surrounded by various high mountains. The town Grossarl, at 920 metres above sea level, has 3.700 residents.
Travelling by Car
The hotel Gratz, your ski hotel in Austria, as well as the town of Grossarl can be reached quickly and easily from the motorway. Please keep in mind that passenger cars and motorcycles are obliged to buy toll stickers (vignette) when they want to drive on the Austrian motorways. The vignette is available at the Austrian state border, tabac shops and petrol stations. It must be affixed directly on the inside of the windscreen where it can be easily seen and controlled from the outside. However, you can reach the valley of Grossarl from the federal freeway (Bundesstraße) where no toll sticker is necessary.

Coming from North
Coming from Munich take the motorway A8 heading towards Salzburg. Cross the Austrian state border and continue on the Austrian motorway A1. At the exit “Knoten Salzburg” take the motorway A10/E55 heading towards Graz/Villach/Salzburg Süd until you have reached the exit 46 “Knoten Pongau”. Take the federal freeway B311 “Pinzgauer Bundesstraße” heading towards Bischofshofen/St. Johann im Pongau/Zell am See. Take the exit towards Großarl and continue straight ahead for approx. 16 km till the roundabout in Großarl. Take the first exit heading towards Unterberg. After 300 metres you have reached the hotel Gratz.
Coming from South
Coming from Graz/Klagenfurt/Villach take the Austrian motorway A10 heading towards Salzburg until you have reached the exit 46 “Knoten Pongau”. Take the federal freeway B311 “Pinzgauer Bundesstraße” heading towards Bischofshofen/St. Johann im Pongau/Zell am See. Take the exit towards Großarl and continue straight ahead for approx. 16 km till the roundabout in Großarl. Take the first exit heading towards Unterberg. Coming from East
From Vienna take the Austrian motorway A1 heading towards Salzburg. Drive in the direction of Salzburg Süd and take the motorway A10 until you have reached the exit 46 “Knoten Pongau”. Take the federal freeway B311 “Pinzgauer Bundesstraße” heading towards Bischofshofen/St. Johnna im Pongau/Zell am See. Coming from West
Coming from Swiss travel through Zurich and take the motorway A1 heading towards Winterthur/Schaffhausen. Go first to St. Gallen, then follow the E 54 towards Munich. Coming from Munich take the motorway A8 heading towards Salzburg. Cross the Austrian state border and continue on the Austrian motorway A1. At the exit “Knoten Salzburg” take the motorway A10/E55 heading towards Graz/Villach/Salzburg Süd until you have reached the exit 46 “Knoten Pongau”.
